| 内容記述 | Iwaki City belongs to Fukushima Prefecture in the Tohoku region of Japan and faces the Pacific Ocean. Its climate is so warm that it is called Hawaii in this region, and it is a blessed area free from natural disasters such as earthquakes and typhoons.Additionally to these, it boasts the highest shipment value of manufactured products in this region. However, the Great East Japan Earthquake that occurred in 2011 shattered their prosperity. Since then, Iwaki City has been required to respond to the triple pain of earthquakes, tsunamis, and nuclear power plan accidents, which is rarely seen in our history. However, Iwaki City`s reconstruction efforts have shown good performance.An analysis of this from the perspective of regional management is as follows. The reason for its success is that industry, academia and government work together while playing their respective roles, sharing a sense of solidarity and crisis. The city formulates an overall plan, and universities provide knowledge, wisdom and human resources, and Chamber of Commerce implements plans with local companies. They created and functioned an organization in which industry, academia and government could work together to give opinions and manage progress. Also this activity is not just a form but an effective one. I believe that the above will be helpful in other areas where population outflow and industry decline are expected. |
